Real Support.
Real Change.
Practical, evidence-based psychological care for rural, regional, and remote Australians — delivered through secure telehealth, without the wait, the travel, or the judgment.
Our Mission
Psychology that meets you
where you actually are.
The Psych Clinic was built on a simple premise: quality mental health care shouldn't depend on your postcode. Too many Australians living outside major cities are told to wait months, drive hours, or just manage — and that's not good enough.
We understand the pressures of life outside the city. Isolation. Limited services. The expectation to keep going without asking for help. Through secure telehealth, we remove the barriers — travel, cost, wait times — and deliver the same standard of care as any major city clinic.

Who I Am
Grounded in real life.
Not just theory.
I'm a registered psychologist and the founder of The Psych Clinic. Since 2021, I've been working with people who have felt misunderstood, overlooked, or poorly supported within systems — whether healthcare, workplaces, or broader institutions.
My approach is practical, ethical, and evidence-based. I focus on helping people make sense of their experiences and build tools they can actually use — not theoretical frameworks that don't translate to real life.
I understand the realities of life outside major cities. The isolation. The pressure to just get on with it. Through telehealth, I'm able to offer support that is accessible, respectful, and grounded in the world you actually live in.
“My goal is not to label or pathologise — it's to help people build understanding, resilience, and confidence to move forward in a way that aligns with their values.”
— Quentin Counsell

Areas of Focus
What We Help
You With
We don't believe in labels or one-size-fits-all approaches. Every person's experience is unique — and so is the support we offer.
Anxiety & Stress
Persistent worry, overthinking, and the weight of constant pressure. We work to understand your specific triggers and build practical tools that fit your life.
Burnout
Exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix. Disconnection from work and purpose. We help you recover and rebuild — without telling you to just 'switch off'.
Trauma & PTSD
Whether from a single event or a lifetime of difficult experiences, trauma doesn't have to define your future. We work at a pace that is safe for you.
Feeling Stuck
When you know something needs to change but can't work out where to start. We help clarify what matters and map a path forward.
Relationships & Identity
Navigating difficult relationships, feeling misunderstood, or questioning who you are. Honest, non-judgmental support for complex situations.
Work & Occupational Stress
The unique pressures of rural and remote work — farming, mining, healthcare. We understand the culture and what it actually demands of people.
Not sure if we're the right fit? Reach out anyway. We'll be honest with you about whether we can help, and if not, we'll point you toward someone who can.

Community & Public Speaking
Speaking up for
rural mental health.
Outside of clinical practice, Quentin contributes his time to public speaking, community events, and local mental health initiatives across rural and remote Australia. The feedback below reflects those engagements — not clinical services.

Outback in Mind Conference · Roma, Queensland
“Real men don’t eat quiche.”
At the final day of the Outback in Mind Conference (an initiative of Roma Headspace & RHealth), I realised only three of us in the room recognised the 1980s book that gave rise to this quote.
“Quentin Counsell from the Psych Clinic opened with it — not for humour, but to highlight how old ideas about masculinity still shape men’s willingness to talk about mental health. He spoke with passion and urgency about male suicide, which continues to claim far more lives than the road toll. Rates among farmers and people in rural and remote regions are particularly confronting. With experience as a ringer, in correctional services, and now as a psychologist, Quentin brings a grounded, no-nonsense perspective. He challenges outdated masculine norms and creates space for men to talk openly, rethink resilience, and re-imagine what good mental health can look like.”

CEO, Council on the Ageing Queensland
“Quentin immediately understood the brief and delivered an engaging and inspiring keynote on a topic that is deeply needed in rural Australia. His authenticity and depth of knowledge were evident throughout his presentation. What truly sets Quentin apart is his relatability to rural men in the bush. His ability to connect with the audience made his message resonate powerfully. He brings not only expertise as a psychologist but also a genuine understanding of the unique challenges faced in rural communities. I recommend Quentin without hesitation to anyone seeking a keynote speaker who can inform, inspire, and truly connect.”
